Members of the Collings Lakes Community:

I am honored to be the new principal of Collings Lakes Elementary School. It is truly exciting to join a staff that values the individual differences of our diverse learners and strives for academic excellence. We are committed to providing a student-centered educational experience that prepares our early childhood students for a successful future at Buena Regional and in life.

Collings Lakes is a kindergarten through second grade building where students receive instruction in all core subjects, as well as physical education, health, art, music, and library. Our exceptional staff provides a nurturing, positive learning environment. Recognizing the fact that all students can learn, teachers differentiate lessons based on student strengths and abilities. To ensure student success, individualized programs are available and incorporated based on student needs. Currently, we offer a developmental kindergarten program, basic skills intervention classes, and a special education self-contained classroom, in addition to our grade level classrooms.

Our staff works diligently to establish a positive school climate that fosters a lifelong love of learning. We celebrate our successes and come together to ensure all students recognize they are important members of our Collings Lakes Family. We will continue to recognize our amazing students with Student of the Month, Perfect Attendance, and other various awards and events throughout the school year.

The success of our students greatly depends on the partnership between our home and school families. We will continue to strive to be a school that welcomes our great community. We are also fortunate to have an active and very supportive parent organization—the PTO. We would like to thank our PTO for organizing such events as Movie Night, Holiday Shoppe, Skating Party, Book Fair, and Family Night. They also provide the funds necessary for some of our assemblies and field trips.

As your new principal, I welcome the community to be involved in your children’s education. I will do my best to be accessible and promote the accomplishments of our Collings Lakes Elementary students! For the latest updates and information on student achievement, you can follow the school now on Instagram, and Twitter.

Yours in Education,

Dr. Leonard Long
