Announcement from the Superintendent, Mr. David Cappuccio
Re: High School Mold Inspection 9/19/2018
As announced at last evening’s Board of Education meeting, the Buena Regional High School was inspected for mold this afternoon by a professional environmental service following dismissal of school. The inspection was completed a short time ago, which is the reason for the hour of this message. Based upon the inspection results, the environmentalist indicated no widespread patterns of mold within the high school. Inspection results indicated a total of six classrooms requiring professional cleaning. The district is making immediate arrangements to have these six classrooms professionally cleaned.
The Buena Regional High School will remain open tomorrow, September 20th. This decision was made in consultation with the environmentalist conducting today’s inspection. The six classrooms requiring the professional cleaning will remain closed to students and staff until the remediation process is complete. Based on the environmentalist’s recommendation, follow-up air quality testing will occur once the classrooms have been remediated to determine if the rooms are safe for student and staff occupancy. Students assigned to the ALL room as well as classrooms A145, A149, B109, B116, and B117 will report to the Auditorium for first period tomorrow morning. Students will receive additional information at school tomorrow morning regarding relocation from these classrooms.
Again, school will remain open tomorrow, September 20th and Back to School Night will remain on as planned for tomorrow evening. If you should have any additional questions, please feel free to contact the Board of Education Office tomorrow.
