District Assessment Information

Why is NJSLA important to the Buena Community?

The New Jersey Student Learning Assessments ( NJSLA) measure how well students have mastered grade-level material in English language arts/literacy (ELA/L) and mathematics and their preparedness for college and careers. The tests include questions that measure students’ fundamental skills and knowledge, and require students to think critically, solve problems and support their answers.

NJ Statewide Assessment Program

NJSLA more accurately measure the higher-level skills developed under the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (formerly Common Core) and provide parents and educators with meaningful information to improve teaching and learning. The New Jersey Department of Education provides assessment resources to assist parents with interpreting a child's individual score reports. This will provide parents with a common language to use in the discussions with teachers about their student’s progress.
